Further detective work on the unknown founder's mark posted the other
day. Clouston and Pipe's Bells and Bellringing in Suffolk has a
photograph (on page 26) of an identical mark on the tenor at Sudbury
St Peter. This bell is attributed to John Kebyll, a London founder of
the late 15th century, who was reusing stamps and letters first used
by Stephen Norton (given by Stahlschmidt as 'of Kent') in the 1360s
and handed down from founder to founder in London. Unfortunately
Stahlschmidt doesn't give a picture of this particular mark.
