The 1936 date comes from Thow - but Jim Hedgcock (in commenting on my Great
bells list) assures me that the bells are dated 1937. The date 1936 (for
King George V's silver Jubilee) is also the date given in an article in the
BCS Newsletter of Feb.1980
It would be good to have independent confirmation, since there is obviously
some doubt. If Thow is wrong, then the error is likely to be oft-repeated,
as it is the most convenient reference book, but having checked my
information again I'm starting to think he may be right
