[Bell Historians] Manchester Town Hall and Dates

Just to stir up the date thing a bit - Guernsey St Peter Port were cast in
the year before their inscription date - of course everything had to be
ready and finished before the commemoration of the liberation of the
Islands. The date on an inscription of a bell cast for a specific event may
well not be the date of casting. However the Town Hall argument seems to be
a sort of retrospective celebration of the Jubilee if they were cast in
1937!
Do we have the weights of all the chiming bells as well as the ringing
peal?
Andrew

The 1936 date comes from Thow - but Jim Hedgcock (in commenting on my Great
bells list) assures me that the bells are dated 1937. The date 1936 (for
King George V's silver Jubilee) is also the date given in an article in the
BCS Newsletter of Feb.1980

It would be good to have independent confirmation, since there is obviously
some doubt. If Thow is wrong, then the error is likely to be oft-repeated,
as it is the most convenient reference book, but having checked my
information again I'm starting to think he may be right
