Cheadle bells were invoiced out from Whitechapel on 15 October 1845. Howeve=
r, they weren't the first ring of bells in a Roman Catholic church in Engla=
nd since the reformation. That honour goes (though do correct me if I'm wro=
ng) to the ring of six of 1844 by C & G Mears at St.John the Evangelist at =
Kirkham, Lancs.

Other early rings in RC churches include Thurnham (1848), Rainhill (1848), =
Clapham (1851) and the original steel eight (1860) at Sheffield later trans=
ferred to Moseley

john wants to know the date of the 1st peal of bells installed for=20
saint Giles cheadle staffordshire United Kingdom
john has this information for the group re these bells they were cast=20
by mears of whitechapple
in 1939 they were sent to loughbourgh where taylors added 2 bells to=20
augment up to a ring of 8 at this time they were 1/2 turned
he belives they were only the 2nd peal of bells in a catholic church=20
in england since the reformation..
any help on any details at all on these bells gratefully accepted ..
