Talking of venerable old bells, some will remember the letter to the Ringin=
g World regarding the inscription of a very ancient bell discovered in a re=
mote country church which read:
ITI SAPIS POTAND ATI NONE
This was a hoax (as those who rearrange the spaces between the letters will=
see), sparking a witty rebuke to the (then) editor from someone who claime=
d to have found another old bell inscribed
