Sounds a bit high-tech for operations in the garage of a student 
house!

I've got them out now, anyway. A screwdriver with the handle broken 
off, a hammer and a lot of bashing at the bottom of the brasses 
removed them eventually! I'm sure it would have been a lot easier if 
I'd had the proper tools, though!
