There are two aspects to such surveys:
Field work going round the towers
Archive work, local & national.

Just because some areas of research are difficult does not mean that a surv=
ey should not go ahead.

Good luck to all those who are carrying out County/Diocescan surveys.

However, it seems there will now be something of a problem to all those e=
ngaged in such activities now - namely, Whitechapel's reluctance to allow a=
ccess to their records. Until this situation changes, it will be very diffi=
cult to publish a full and complete survey of any area.

I have personally covered about 80% of bells both secular and non=20
secular within the boundries of the Blackburn Diocese and will=20
eventually put up details of them on a web page. There a few secular=20
bells still eluding me for example the single bell at Dutton Manor(Nr=20
Ribchester) and the single bell at Megita house(Nr Langho) to name a=20
few.
The three mini rings within the Diocese will also be documented on=20
the web page.
