DIOCESE OF SALISBURY (Wilts Portion)

H B Walters gives in 1929

Chicklade, Wilts, All Saints, 1/1; 20.1/2" 1832. NB He gives the inscription
as JEFFERIES & PRICE BRISTOL 1832, but as can be seen above, Jefferies was
working on his own around this time.
(Lacock, see above, Diocese of Bristol)
(Sopworth, now Glos, see above, but HBW gives a better rendering of the
inscription)
Semington, St George, 1/1 n.d., c1850, J. & P. / B.

WALES

Llanwen, Cards, St Gwynen, 1/1; 17.3/4" 1829 W J (FS CB Cardiganshire)

Wright accounts for 15 bells, viz St Mary Abergavenney and St John, now the
Masonic Hall, Abergavenney (both cast in 1835 for St Johns by W J); and by
J&P, Llandenny 1 & 2 1839; Mynyddislwyn 1 & 3 1844; Llanhennock 1 (?) 1845;
Newport St Paul 1 1852; Llanmartin 1 1854; and bells not dated at Glascoed
1; Govilon 1; Goytre 1 & 2; Llangovan 1 & 2.. He further records that J&P
went into receivership in 1854.

The back 6 of the 8 (7th recast) at Glasbury have been mentioned (J&P 1838);
CB Breconshire also mentions a bell at St David's, Carmarthen, cast by J&P
in 1836; presumably after April 10th - see Kingsdown, above. So dates for
Jefferies alone seem to be 1829-1836 and for J & P 1836-1854, though this
statement is based on the forgoing, which is partial - but at least a start
!
