[Bell Historians] Diagonal Frames

" Thanks to all of you who have sent details of diagonal bell frames. i had
not realised there were quite so many! I still don't know if this type of
hanging puts any aditional strain on the tower of is strucurally weaker than
the more usual arrangement. Ramsey were unringable for 80 years; at one
stage the tower was reputedly unsafe and so was the frame; neither proved to
be the case!"

I don't have any knowledge of structural engineering, but if the frame is
placed diagonally surely it will spread the load over all four walls,
irrespective of how many bells swing each way.
