John Mallaby may well have fitted some of the early ballbearings when he worked for Shaws of Bradford However I have not seen any he fitted himself. And certainly there is no reference among his notes on Bishophill senior about fitting ballbearings. Sowerby Bridge bearings may well have been done for Shaws on a subcontract basis, i understand he hung the Shaw treble at Wath juxta Ripon in 1901 for them well after he left the firm.
