I think the point has been made that founders rarely decided on a mode and
then cast to it. The point of the exercise is to establish what is THERE
rather than what was INTENDED. The term "Old Style" is even more ambiguous
than "minor".

It is tantamount to (dare I say it) throwing away Pickford's bell frame
classification system and replacing the frame descriptions with the word
"wood" or "metal"!
