Yes, Elmley Castle are 'interesting'. My only ring there was a peal a few
years back. I'd heard there was something a bit strange with their sound.
Initially, we met five and pulled up the back five. They sounded OK:
definitely major tuning. The sixth person arrived and the treble went up.
That sounded OK. Then we rang all six....... . Hell! I've got listen to that
for 3 hours...?!
I don't think there are any fancy modal aspects associated with this ring.
Elmley Castle can reasonably be described as a major 6 with a
well-flat treble.
