[None of the bells at Kettering was "listed" by the CCC - not in the edition
of which I have a copy, anyway. But the Code of Practice should have
protected the 1630 bell ex-Gretton. I am afraid I stand by what I have said
about Peterborough Diocese, especially in the time of the previous bell
adviser/consultant when many rare bells went (e.g. East Farndon, Quinton) as
well as some less rare (like the Norris bell at Kettering). DACs and
Diocesan Chancellors tend to accept the advice they receive from supposed
experts, and who can blame them? CD]

P.S. What I should have said about Chester Cathedral was that 2 bells were
left up in the central tower. 9 were indeed removed for melting down.
