Sorry, been watching the proms!

They played the 1812 Overture. There were three bells in the kitchen 
sink department of the Halle Orchestra that were chimed in the 
finale. They formed a chord, (possibly a pentatonic one?). There 
was an inscription on at least one bell, but the bleedin' BBC did not 
have a single close-up of them. They had neither canons, nor 
Doncaster heads, (pace David!). Actually, they looked quite modern. 
Any ideas of their origin?
