There is an advert in the Salisbury Journal of about 1750 placed by James
Burrough of Devizes in which he claims to cast handbells, among other
things. He could have learnt the art from the Aldbourne foundry which is
not far away. Devizes museum claims to have some of his handbells, though
they are in fact by James Bridgeman of the Aldbourne foundry.

I have a book on horsebells edited by Terry Keegan and on the inside back
cover is a drawing of a horse bell 'by James Burroughs (sic) of Devizes'. I
have not been able to trace this, or indeed any handbells by Burrough. Can
anyone help.
