The other tower has recently been extensively refurbished with practice
rooms for the Cathedral Choir. There would be insufficient room for a ring
of bells, etc. The central tower has one large chamber above the chancel
crossing roof with a lead roof at the level of the base of the spire. It is
open to the elements above that and again not currently suitable for a
ringing peal. I think that given that the frame has had to be retained the
bells go reasonably well and positive comparisons remain with similar rings
e.g Grantham, Maidstone. Will be interesting to compare with Writtle when
complete.
