I think the main problem with Redcliffe is not necessarily the design,
but more so how the clapper bush is put together and maintained.
The castellated nut on nearly all of the clapper pins are effectivley
only 'finger tight' and rattle around and they are essentially only
held in place by the split pin. Over a period of time the split pin
breaks due to metal fatigue and thus clapper falls out. So as a result
the steeple keeper has replaced some split pins with hardened steel
nails.
Anybody else have problems with steeple keepers?
