Plymouth - I've got a postcard somewhere of the gutted church, looking west=
wards from the chancel. I believe the church remained a shell for a number =
of years after the war - I seem to recall seeing a photo of it with parts o=
f the interior grassed.
Southwark:

I was told that after the war the bell was tuned from B to B-flat in order=
=20
to compete with St Paul's. Is this correct?=20
Probably more to do with the fact that by this time Whitechapel had adopted=
true-harmonic tuning, which they hadn't when the tenor was cast. That woul=
d be my guess, anyway.
