I'm interested to see Cheltenham listed as a possible "untouched"
ten/twelve, as there is actually little information available as to the
current state of the bells.
The weights quoted for the bells are actually based on the "as supplied"
weights of 1823/1833. The weights quoted by John Rudhall (courtesy of Chris
Pickford) for the back ten are:
1. 6-0-19
2. 5-2-3
3. 6-0-12
4. 6-2-2
5. 7-0-3
6. 8-1-3
7. 9-2-26
8. 12-0-15
9. 15-0-25
10. 22-2-16
Comparing these with the various details given for these bells is
interesting. For a start, the back four have lost their canons, and yet
22-2-16 is still quoted for the tenor. Nowhere have I seen definitive
details of exactly what work was carried out by Whitechapel in 1911. A local
newpaper article of the time quoted on the tower website states that the
bells were retuned in 1911; if so, is there a revised set of weights? Does
anyone have the details?

Pretty sure that the score on the ones you mention is:
Ashton - yes, almost certainly retuned
Oxford - not retuned, so far as I know
Chelsea - not retuned when rehung in c.1893, nor since
Leeds (Kent) - not significant retuning, although Alf Bowell may have made
some minor adjustments
Cheltenham (certainly as a ten) and All Saints Worcester (the back ten -
though now retuned) are fairly good examples - reasonably intact. Wrexham
(retuned) too
Just a few hasty thoughts on this

After being away from it for too long, I have now resumed work on my
bell acoustics investigations. As part of this I am interested in old
peals of ten and twelve (pre 1850-ish) which were substantially all
provided as a set, where the trebles still survive and have not been
retuned.
For twelves, I have recorded Painswick and Mancroft. As regards other
twelves, I have some questions:
* were Ashton under Lyne retuned in 1927?
* were Oxford retuned in 1952?
Are there any other twelves I should consider? (I can't find any more
on Michael Wilby's list).
As regards tens, I know of St Luke's Chelsea. Have Leeds (Kent) been
tuned? (the only candidate I can find on Kent bells). Are there any
other lists I should look at? Does anyone know of other untuned old
tens?
Many thanks,
