MessageWhen I visited an old colleague of mine who was then General Manager of the Kowloon-Canton Rly Co back in the early 80's the Taylor 1 ton clock bell was mounted on a pedestal on Kowloon station concourse.

The single line railway was constructed in about 1910. The original terminus station was opened in 1916 at was the southern tip of the Kowloon peninsular adjacent to the ferry. The clock tower of the station was built in about 1922 and contained this bell I believe.
The station was demolished in the late 70's, the valuable land redeveloped and a new station built further north up the line as part of the double tracking and electrification that my old associate had gone to mastermind.
The clock tower still stands but the railway had taken their bell with them it appears.

The original railway was built by Jardine Matheson the famous Hong financed by Hong Kong Shanghai Banking Corporation, Britain's biggest commercial company in Asia teamed up with its biggest financial house.

I have a vague recollection that there may be some sort of electronic noise emanating from the clock tower now.

Andrew

Does any one know what bells are in the clock tower at the Kowloon-Canton railway station.
