Not the least of the reasons for the excellence of the book is the author's eye for detail and on the whole it's pretty accurate. The amount of nonsense written about Big Ben (including from those who should know better) is remarkable: this book is not an addition to it. And it's very readable. Even Grimthorpe would have approved, I think, responsible as he was for two big, bad bells. The author manages to be positive about him, Warner and Mears, which is quite an achievement!

If it was mentioned when first published then I missed it! However, as two years have elapsed it does give others the opportunity to purchase it at below the original cover price!

“I think this book was mentioned on this list when it was first published. It's a very good read.”
Yes, I discovered it in Borders Bookshop and commented on here at the time – it’s the only bell related book I’ve ever come across in a general bookshop.
