“There's quite a few Richard Purdue bells in Wiltshire including two at
Boyton (wrongly attributed to Roger Purdue, Richard's ?younger brother);”
They are vary similar, but Roger’s bells don’t usually have any initials on
them – if it has R (bell) P then chances are it’s by Richard.
It is known that the two brothers worked together on at least one occasion,
in 1630, when a temporary furnace was set up at Nynehead to cast bells for
there and other local churches. Two of these bells survive at Nynehead, and
one at Pitminster.
