I have sent the following reply to this enquirer :


" m. v. British Chancellor was built in Glasgow in 1954 and in 1972 was
taken  to Kaohsiung Taiwan to be scrapped.

 The propellers for ships built in Glasgow would be cast by a brassfounder
who could also have cast  this bell.

 Rainhill could be  the name of the brassfounder who  actually cast the
bell.

If anyone has access to a 1950s trqde directory for the Glasgoq area this
