"Did they? On what grounds do you make that statement?"

 

The back three are maiden bells, and very close to true harmonic. The
trebles have been machine tuned, and although not bad are not as good as
the back three.

 

Of the same era, there's the tenor at Norton Fitzwarren (1857), although
admittedly this one has been tuned by Whitechapel in recent years - it's
now pretty much perfect true harmonic. Also some of the bells at
Baldersby (also 1857).
