To John and Paul,
I'm at the end of my tether when it comes to trying to use The Bell News
CD.
It does not work. Period.
Why did the committee decide to provide so much security that it cannot
be used!
That defeats the whole project. What a waste of time and effort for all
the people who worked so hard to get the data together in the first
place. We shall be forever in their debt for that.
The concern for copyright and prevention of unauthorized copying is
important but should never be so great that the CD is unusable.
Let alone unusable by myself and maybe others, in its present format it
is unusable in a tower unless one has internet access. How many towers
have internet access? Few, if any.
I would have purchased another copy for the tower but as it cannot be
used there, it makes no sense.
Please, will the Library Committee consider doing something to make this
project useful. Right now it is a dismal failure.
I know that I'll receive lots of heat over this but a project must be
useful to be successful.
Best wishes
Alan
.
