Metal prices

I've just ordered some bellmetal - it has rocketed up since the beginning of the year! Purchase price is now £6560 per tonne - easily the highest price we have had to pay.

 

Given that the price was virtually static at £100/cwt for probably 25 years or so, does that make it pro rata more or less expensive now than say 1988?
