The Friends of Friendless Churches gives some wider recognition for
Christopher Dalton's work on bells in their appreciation of his work in the
winter/spring newsletter:

'One of the least appreciated byeways (sic) of the English timber framed
tradition is the bellframe, hidden half way up inhospitable towers. For
Christopher its study became a passion. His 3 volume "Bells and Belfries of
Dorset" won the 2007 award for the outstanding contribution to the county's
archaeology and the reaction to his death on the internet confirmed that his
standing among the bell fraternity combined profound respect with strong
affection.'
