I've often thought that it might make the point if conservation inspectors and people in the "conservation industry" (as it has become) were issued with old vehicles for every-day use - and made to keep them on the road at their own expense irrespective of cost, convenience, performance, safety, obsolesence etc
I bet there would be some whingeing! Whether there might be a change of heart is probably too much to hope for, though
