For those who aren't aware:  

John had an unexpected problem arise which I understand as needing 
further tests - at least that is my intepretation so far, and he should 
by now be in hospital. I don't think it is quite as serious as my 2004 
problem, but it certainly *is* serious and he is of course older.   

No doubt I will hear more in due course.
