Re Chris Pickford's comment in his e-mail of 26.11.08 "that there is no reference in Keating's 'Bells in Australia' to any McShane Bells." Before writing his book Keating circularised all towers holding one or more bells but only those who replied to his questionnaire rated a mention in the book. It cannot be assumed, therefore, that the book is a definitive listing of all bells existing in Australia.

For those who are familiar with the book will recall that there is a comprehensive history of the bells then in St. Mary's Cathedral, Sydney. I was captain at that time and remember that he visited the tower on more than one occasion. John Cummins.
