Looks as though I'm alone, but I thought Corbin's Village Bells was a
wonderfully evocative exploration of village life in France during the nineteenth
century, showing how the sound of bells was linked with the rhythms and
meanings of everyday life. It is well written and well translated, and I read it
with real pleasure.

Good to hear you enjoyed it. I think different people get different things
from ringing books - for me I love the description of different towers and
bells, complete with their history. Photos being a crowning glory.
