The Dame Francis Stapleton bell (1730) which was discussed here last
week under the subject "FW: HAVE a bell from the 1700s..." has also
been shown and discussed on the Forum of the American Bell
Association:

At least one of the three large photos there is different from those
supplied to Bell Historians by the owner. Showing the interior of
the bell, it makes clear that the clapper is hung from the original
cast-in crown staple, not from a false staple added later. This
seems to refute the ingenious hypothesis proposed by DB and CP as to
the origin of the two holes in top the bell.
