In the meantime the clock has been given an electric motor to power the
hands. The DAC clock man and Smiths of Derby have said that the clock was
made by a local blacksmith. We will get around to conserving it at some
time. And the birds can no longer get in to inflict further damage to it.

That's all good news - let's hope it comes to fruition in the
not-too-distant future.... Then someone can have a go at cleaning the guano
off the clock!
