Seeing that the Seller on E-bay lives in Epsom, Surrey, the only G&J bell I can find in my records, assuming the bell has not travelled too far from it's original location, is one from Epsom Mental Hospital. No. 1655; 18" (457mm) (not 45cm as advertised) 1-1-4; 1926.
Does anyone know of this bell and/or the state of the hospital.?

At £1295, for a harmonically tuned bell of around 18" diameter, its still a good buy, even though its up at a bit more than scrap value.

A new true harmonic casting of the same spec is going to cost somewhere around 3k or so with VAT on top.

There have been a lot of "old style", small bells on Ebay recently, and some of nearly the same diameter as the G+J bell have sold for a higher price or have been on sale at a higher price.

At £1295, still a good buy for somebody using it in a ringing project. But looking at the advert again, there is a "Best offer" bit so maybe it could be bought for less.
