Hello Historians,
I need a hand please.
You may know that I have been finding, through on-line newspapers, chaps who have died in both wars, and who do not appear in our Rolls of Honour. I do this by entering key words into the years concerned such as bellringer, bell ringer and soforth and then just pick through until I find a ringer who was killed in the wars.
Recently I have spoken to a wonderful real ringing old boy with a memory ! and asked him if he knew of any ringers who died in WW2 with the result that the name of RALPH LAVERCOMBE came up. He was lost in April 1941.
I discovered his Son and as a result of a cold call I received from him various photographs, including an article from the North Devon Journal and that includes a key word "ringer".
If I enter the name of Ralph Lavercombe into the archive, 9 hits will come up which includes North Devon Journal 15 May 1941 page 8 which has the photo and text. If I then add to that key words such as ringer, or Pilton (his tower) there are no hits at all.
Can someone else have a try at nailing this chap down by keywords and telling me how you did it please ?
Thank you,
David
