A good point well made. However, we could put ourselves in the position of those who didn't know when the war would end, who would not return and what form a memorial may take. Perhaps we could relive the post WW1 years as they happen 100 years on.Andrew

I feel it has to be said that this whole issue – interesting and valuable in principle – should have been raised much earlier, and done systematically with agreed definitions and parameters in mind.

While some good examples have been mentioned it's clear that some that are not really (First) War memorials have also been listed.

Too little, too late and being done without proper thought. Two cheers for the so-called reformed Central Council.

It's hard to see what use can be made of the information at this very late stage. There could have been had the question been raised much earlier
