Dennis Greenwood's booklet entitled "James Shaw, Son & Co - Bellfounders
& Clockmakers of Bradford, Yorkshire" (published 1996) has some more
(but not conclusive) details on Page 11.
I will scan the page later on when I get chance and post to this list.

Bradford, Yorkshire. Bellfounder and Church clock maker, for “ church
bell gravity stop-motion," to prevent bell going over in change-ringing.
Does anyone know what this invention was?
