[Bell Historians] The closure of the Bagley foundry in Chacombe

The Matthew of the explosions was, indeed, a different one - and his
connection with the Chacombe Bagleys is uncertain, although one feels that
he must belong with the same family.

 

The other Matthew - previously in partnership with Henry II until 1687 as
Richard indicated - decamped to Evesham where he died shortly afterwards (in
June 1690). Another brother, William, went over to finish the six bells for
Bishampton that were still at the foundry "to be new run and made more
Tunable"  but "att the furnace unfinished, by reason of the sudden and
unexpected Death since of the Belfounder who undertooke the worke"
