The dining hall bell was recast by Whitechapel in 1970. 21” 1-3-22 note A.

Fred Sharpe (The Church Bells of Oxfordshire, p.333) gives:

Chapel: 2 Bells in roof space, 34" and 36" by Warner 1874. Hung for ringing

Dining Hall entrance: 1 bell 1752 Rudhall 1752. Where did it come from?

Clock Tower: 3 Hemispherical bells, 25 3/4"; 30 1/2"; 36" Mears & Stainbank 1873

Interesting that they purchased the chapel bells and the clock bells about the same time from two different founders.

Chris Pickford has pointed me in the direction of an enquiry from Keble College, Oxford to Gillett & Bland, for a set of 8 bells (which G&B in turn contacted John Taylor about) in 1872. Taylors never actually (directly) supplied the bells, but were bells supplied anyway? I can’t find any reference to a chime of 8 existing at Keble, but does that mean that there wasn’t one in the past? Does anyone know?
Many thanks,
Dickon
