Maybe we don't join in, as you put it, simply because we don't understand
the code. For instance, what on earth does "extend via EF above" mean? Or
"an expanding extension?" Or " a static extension?"

Perhaps if words were used more carefully? In the case of Cromer A Minor,
this would be . . .

"All bells plain hunt until the treble reaches 5-6, then ring Kent TB, and
make 5ths at the half-lead."

Moving upwards, you have to decide whether "reaches 5-6" means literally
that, and whether "5ths at the half-lead" still means literally that.

"Reaches 5-6" could also mean "gets to the back" (i.e. 7-8); "5ths at the
half-lead" could mean "one place from the back" at the half-lead.

Running through these possibilities . . .

i x18x18x12x18x12x58 (gives 48765231:84675321 - does not work)
ii x18x18x12x18x12x78 (gives 48765231:84672531 - does not work) iii
x18x18x18x12x58 (gives 68745231:86475321 - does not work)
iv x18x18x18x12x78 (gives 68745231:86472531 - BINGO!

. . . though really, a few moment's thought would have revealed that since 3
must be the pivot in order to keep to the b sequence of leads suggestions i
and iii were impossible at the outset.

One answer to the Lincolnshire problem would seem to be to introduce
multiple places in order to avoid 5-pull dodging not present in the lower
stage.

Gainsborough, for instance, would go 70x123458x90, and Johannesburg,
123470x123458x90. Ouch! But there's no law which says that extensions
have got to be nice.
