But +/- 180 degrees isn't exactly a small angle.  Are you really saying 
that a bell swinging to just below the balance goes at the same speed as 
when it's swinging just a small amount?  In fact, by ringing close enough 
to the balance, you can make the period of the swing as long as you like.
