This may not be of interest to you, Sam, but for the
sake of completeness I would just like to comment on
Edward Martin's recollection of 42 different extents
of Grandsire Doubles with each bell in turn becoming
the treble. Each non-treble hunting extent starts with
pure plain hunting to get the requisite whole hunt
bell to the front and also ends with some plain
hunting to get the relevant bell back to its home
position. It all works out to make true 120s!
This plan is detailed in Snowdon's "Grandsire" and
there are of course 50 different extents using the
conventional bob and single only 10 callings. I
believe the resulting peal of 6000 changes has been
rung at least once.
