[r-t] HTML posting

Is there a reason why this list allows posting in HTML?
Most of the other ringing lists do not, and by allowing it
here, it means that those readers who their mail as HTML
have no idea how illegible there mail is to those of us who
don't. Both of Robert Bennet's last two emails, for
example, have come through as a single paragraph with Eddie
Martin's signature at the end, and with no means of working
out what part of it was his.

On 20 Sept 2004, John Camp said HTML was to allow people to
allow people to use HTML markup to write more technical
things -- equations, tables, diagrams, and so on. At the
time the list was less than two months old, and that seemed
like a worthwhile experiment. But I don't recall a single
occasion over following six-and-a-half years when HTML has
been used in this way.

Can we disable it, please?
