This is a bit tangential to the thrust of this list, but as many of you will know the website Campanophile has been down for over a week - the sever has died, and the owner of the website is sadly unwell and prevented from being able to restore things.

Campanophile has been a great resource - having a reliable public forum for new peals, quarters and other ringing performances is a service the ringing community really needs.

As such, in the continuing absence of Campanophile, the past few days Richard Smith has been working round the clock with the Ringing World to get a new forum for this up and running. I'm delighted this has now been done - do take a look at the new site, Bell Board (http://bb.ringingworld.co.uk) which has just gone live. Please start to populate it with you own recent submissions.

BellBoard is of course free, and having the backing and support of the RW means it should be on a much more stable and sustainable footing than any website than volunteer-reliant sites.

BellBoard already has great functionality, including the data of thousands of peals from peals.co.uk, as well as a backup of public-domain Campanophile data (to August 2011) that Richard managed to obtain. Clearly there is huge potential for many future features and enhancements - I'm excited by the possibilities, including (in the long term) links to compositional resources.

The site is very much in development, and Richard Smith would I'm sure welcome any suggestions / comments / bug reporting.
