When I was still on the CCCBR I did repeatedly beg for volunteers,
both on the PCC and from the general community reading the c-r list,
to format some of the collections alread in electronic form for
importing into the web site. The top priority, to my mind, was the
rest of Roddy Horton's spliced collection, though there are others,
too. While I did in several different years I did get one or more
volunteers, I don't think any ended up actually doing anything
(apologies if someone did, and I've forgotten). I guess I just got
tired of asking.
Anyone want to volunteer now? It's just a matter of taking plain text
files and formatting them into an XML format, along the way extracting
various bits of meta-data (like the length, which methods is contains,
and so on). For any given collection it probably can be automated if
you like writing scripts that do that sort of thing; or you can do a
lot of massaging by hand (though that is more likely to introduce
errors).
(BTW, if you do volunteer, I'm unlikely to reply further for a few
days, owing to travel and the like.)
