Are CRUs good on eight?

I don't rate them but they were (and to some extent still are) a measure
that is used.

Just look at the CC composition website.  CRU counts are still often quoted
even for 10 and 12 bell comps.

My point was that in the 1960s when singles became 'acceptable' in Surprise,
CRUs were the accepted measure and people extended this to 8+.

There are even comps of Spliced S Royal that boast 144 CRUs - gross of
course! :-)
