I agree with you Richard, with the exception that, since computers are 
so ubiquitous in the production and proof of peals these days, we really 
ought to adopt base 2 in deference to our mechanical overlords. 
Therefore I think 2^16 would be a more appropriate minimum length. Would 
also sort the men from the boys etc.
