Damn all “Real Programmers”, then. The main program that we use in our research group is full of crap like that. Bits of it even predate FORTRAN77 and are still in use, along with Arithmetic IFs, and computed GOTOs (I didn’t even know what they were until I stumbled across one). And I haven’t even started on memory allocation...

Don’t do FORTRAN, kids, it’s not worth it.
