Firstly, apologies if my initial feedback on the MBD comp seemed too harsh. 
I do like the aim, and I'm delighted to see concepts, compositions and 
different approaches being floated on this list. Many good ideas and avenues 
can originate from the group.

Alan:

This is coming together - I like the palindromic elegance. There is a fair 
amount of complexity though - it's a peal of two different halves - the 
unresolved question in my mind is whether this complexity is justified?

Whilst the same "two halves" description could be said to apply to eg the 
DJP Quark peals, there the two halves are musically and structurally very 
different. Here, the two halves are looking for the same run music - surely 
it's possible to put together a basic entry level composition where the 
methods / structure in each half are the same?

For example, starting with MBD's shunt of 5 leads of Grandsire, you could 
follow this with in both halves of the comp with alternating leads of Avon 
and Bristol...this will admittedly be false (and a bit short, and hardly 
musically optimised!), but something decent and ringable on these lines (ie 
more akin to the royal compositions that inspired MBD in the first place) 
would be good to see.
