I agree it's based on some of the properties of methods.
The pivot bell is a property of a method, but we deliberately choose not 
to use that for the classification.  It can be based on a property, but 
that property has to be meaningful or useful.  Stage is useful.  Treble 
Hunting and Treble Dodging are useful.  Little can be useful.  Hybrid?  No.

Throw the obscure classifications away.  They are only there because 
historically we haven't liked the idea of having methods that have no 
classification.  So we have made up some artificial ones.

We still have to deal with existing methods, and we can do that by 
letting the composer/conductor decide whether or not they want to leave 
the old classification in the title or rename it as something simpler.
